Are you a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs? A fantastic special school in Braintree is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.

This well-established day special school is driven by a clear and powerful vision: to enable everyone to reach – and go beyond – their potential.

They cater for children and young people aged 3 to 19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism, and currently support over 245 students.

The school was rated Good in its last Ofsted inspection (September 2021) and is well-regarded for its nurturing approach, inclusive ethos, and strong commitment to individual progress. In addition to its onsite provision, the school also offers home–school support, ensuring families and pupils receive consistent guidance and care to help every learner thrive.

The Role

Requirements

About The School

Support pupils with complex needs, including autism, across a range of ages and learning abilities.

Assist with classroom activities, personalised learning plans, and communication programs.

Promote independence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a positive and enabling learning environment.

Occasionally support home–school outreach where needed (driver essential).

Must have a full driving licence (essential).

Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.

Patient, nurturing, and resilient with a genuine passion for special education.

Able to adapt to different needs and learning styles.

Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
